A teenage boy was shot Monday night near a West Englewood elementary school.

The 15-year-old boy was shot in the right leg about 10:40 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Claremont Avenue, police said.

The shooting occurred near the Claremont Academy Elementary School, located at 2300 W. 64th St.

The boy realized he had been shot when he "heard shots and felt pain," police said.

He was treated in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital, police said.
