Millburn home-invasion suspect in custody

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the home-invasion robbery and beating of a woman in her home in Millburn, N.J., the Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Authorities charged Shawn Custis, 42, with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

A "nanny cam" captured video of the brutal attack.

Custis broken into the woman's Cypress Street home last Friday night, authorities said. He punched, kicked, and tossed her down stairs, authorities said. The woman's 3-year-old daughter watched the attack from just a few feet away.

Custis's last known address was in Newark, authorities said.
