Only On Fox: Six-Month Old Girl's Death Ruled A Homicide

Posted: Updated:

Only Fox 29 was there as homicide detectives and crime scene investigators returned to this home on Mulberry Street Friday, one week after six month old Amerianna Gutierrez was found unresponsive and raced to a nearby hospital. She died on Monday. The medical  examiner has now declared this a homicide.

"It's a disgrace what happened to the baby, it's a disgrace," neighbor Stephen Congelosi told Fox 29.

"There's just heartache and pain," said neighbor Priscilla Manzanet. "Another child has senselessly died."

Police sources say that after the baby was taken off life support Monday, the coroner ruled she died of neuro trauma or blunt force trauma. There was also a distinctive mark on her body, that investigators say resembles a bite mark, but may have come from a utensil or tool..

"It's just an innocent child that's no longer here," Manzanet said.

Congelosi lives right next door. He and others here were stunned by the little girls death,

"The grandfather tried to give her mouth to mouth, tried to save the baby, he couldn't save the baby," he added.

Sources say several family members were being interviewed on Friday by homicide detectives as they try to piece together what happened to the baby girl.

"It's an innocent child who's life is gone, cut too short," Manzanet said.

"I hope justice gets served," Congelosi said. "Justice gets done. Hope something happens."

Police were still questioning family members Friday evening. No suspects arrested at this point and no charges have been filed. Anyone with information should call homicide detectives.
