Vandals steal fireworks from Woodbridge High School marching band boosters

Posted: Updated:
WOODBRIDGE, Va. -

It is their biggest fundraising effort every year. The boosters for the Woodbridge High School Marching Band in Lake Ridge, Va., sell fireworks from a stand in the school parking lot to get money for out-of-town bus trips and other activities.

Except sometime over the weekend, vandals busted into the on-site trailer where they stored the fireworks and stole some of them and dumped a chemical on others -- making them unusable.

Parent and volunteer Tiffany Tefft tells FOX 5 about a third of their inventory is now gone. It is upsetting to the boosters and others in the community.

Several made generous donations Wednesday ranging up to $1,000.

It is unknown whether investigators have any clues about culprits. Prince William County police were unavailable for comment.
