FREDERICK, Md. -

When filmmaker Ed Sanchez looks at run-down shopping center, he sees something fabulously creepy.

Sanchez grew up in Takoma Park, Md. His claim to fame is the 1999 film “The Blair Witch Project.” It was shot in Burkittsville, Md.

Sanchez has directed a number of films since and now he is scouting a new location -- the Frederick Towne Mall. It is an abandoned mall on West Patrick Street in Frederick.

He is working with Frederick Film Office to get permission from the management company in charge of the mall. Sanchez thinks the film would be good for the local economy and good for anybody who enjoys being scared.
