Video shows Lenox Square jewelry store robbery

Atlanta police released surveillance video Monday showing a bold and brash robbery at a Lenox Square jewelry store.  Investigators say in just seconds, five men managed to steal nearly $1 million in Rolex watches and jewelry.  

Video from inside the store shows five suspects casually strolling into Mayors Jewelry Store on Friday.  They were wielding hammers, and began smashing their way into glass jewelry cases.  

"It looked to me like a small sledge hammer, like a handheld sledge hammer," said Atlanta police spokesman Greg Lyon.

The suspects quickly grabbed handfuls of jewelry and began shoving it into a pillow case.  In all, police say they got about $950,000 worth of merchandise.  As the suspects ran from the store, the video shows a store security guard chasing after them.  

The suspects got away, but the store employee saw them leave in a white van.  That vehicle was found abandoned not far away, and police confirmed it was stolen from Detroit.  

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers.  Tips can be submitted anonymously, and a $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspects' arrests.
