Sherri Saum: They Were Very Brave With The Script

It's a show with all the ingredients for controversy and possible failure. "The Fosters" follows the lives of the Foster family, an interracial lesbian couple raising biological and adoptive children together. Sherri Saum plays one half of the couple.

She talked to Steve and Maria about how the show is getting positive notices for it's subject matter and how it handles these modern problems. Sherri also discusses how her series is going places other TV shows haven't gone...unless the situations were played for laughs. Steve also razzes the actress when she explains how the cast and crew are "like a real family".

  • On May 19, 2007, she married longtime boyfriend and former One Life to Live castmate Kamar de los Reyes in New York City.
  • Her first major role was in the NBC soap opera Sunset Beach as Vanessa Hart during the entire run of the series (1997–1999). She appeared in a variety of shows including Showtime's Beggars and Choosers (1999–2000), Girlfriends for an episode in (2000), Charmed in (2001). Saum plays the role of Natalie on the FX series Rescue Me.
