Teen founder of jewelry company gives back to community

AVONDALE, Ariz. -

Most teenagers dream of owning a car. When Isabella Weems was 14, she started selling custom jewelry in hopes of earning enough money for a set of wheels by the time she turned 16.

The Chandler teenager celebrated her 17th birthday Monday and not only does Bella have a car, her jewelry company employs thousands of people across the country.

Bella founded a social selling company called Origami Owl, making personalized jewelry.

“Its custom lockets and charms and basically they just tell a story about you and things that you like to do,” she says.

One of the things Bella likes to do -- pay it forward.

“That’s always been my motto 'give before you receive,' it’s just something I live by.”

It's the reason Bella takes time out to visit schoolchildren.

“It’s been a really great journey for me to be able to sell the lockets and charms to people all over the U.S. and to be able to tell my story to other kids.”

The day we caught up with Bella at Rio Vista Elementary School in Avondale, she was talking to the children and handing out presents.

“Ever since I was little, giving back is something that makes me feel so good,” she says. “I know that I’m going to be doing this til the day I die.”

Bella also enjoys reaching the children with song.

“I love singing. Singing’s really a big passion of mine and I also like to write my own music, inspirational songs especially, just so I can touch people's lives.”
