AMA supports under 18 energy drink marketing ban

Posted: Updated:

The American Medical Association says it would support a ban on the marketing of energy drinks to children under 18.

The group says the high-caffeine beverages can cause heart problems and other health issues in young people.

The American Beverage Association says it is disappointed in the decision.

It says most energy drinks contain about half the caffeine of a similar size cup of coffee.
