Many NJ families remain displaced

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY) -- Nearly eight months later after Superstorm Sandy, many Jersey Shore families are still displaced from their homes.

The storm destroyed Pam Vasquez's family home in Union Beach. The Vasquezes are living with 40 other families in an apartment complex at Fort Monmouth, a former Army post in Ocean Port.

Pam said the government is giving her family another 10 months in the three-bedroom apartment before they have to move out

The state runs housing recovery centers in nine counties:

    Federal, state, and humane organizations are offering $7,500 in rewards in the case of the shooting of bald eagle in New Jersey. Someone shot a bald eagle in in Bridgeton City Park back in May, authorities said. The badly wounded bird was found May 20, 2014. Its wounds were so severe that it had to be euthanized.

    New Jersey high school students will be required to have CPR training starting this year. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno signed a law Wednesday requiring the lesson for all public and charter school students in ninth through 12th grades. Guadagno is serving as acting governor with Gov. Chris Christie out of the state. It takes effect in the coming school year.
