Weather Causes Flooding In New Jersey

Posted: Updated:
MARGATE, N.J. -

We're not talking about flooded street corners. In Margate, some streets look more like rivers. Still that's not stopping people or cars from trying to get by.

People who live along Winchester avenue near Gladstone in Margate say that flooding happens whenever there's a fast downpour.

Water doesn't usually get inside the homes, they say, but you can see it gets pretty close, coming above the sidewalks.

As intimidating as it looks, some people were still curious enough to wade barefoot in the water and drivers still wanted to test it.

According to resident Sharon Gross, "Oh yeah they'll plow through or go down our street the wrong way."

Another resident John Koncoli also weighed in, "This whole street was completely like a river; it was having waves and everything."

People who live in the neighborhood say that the street flooded this very way for as long as they can remember, but police say it's gotten even worse since Sandy.
