Child Neglect Suspects Added to Marshals' Most Wanted List

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

By all accounts, Ramon and Janet Barreto are an odd couple, both physically and mentally.

The physical part only matters here because we are talking about a couple on the run, fugitives and you need to know what they look like to be on the lookout for them.

But first let's break down what they're accused of, the crimes they reportedly committed back in Mississippi where they lived.

According to the US Marshals' Service Janet - AKA Jeanie or Victoria or Vicky or Sara or Dealie - and her husband Ramon - AKA Ramiro or Juan or Christian - are serial child abusers.

Killers too.

Officials say they adopted SIX children from other countries, all who were beaten, tortured, starved, neglected and abused.

Six but now there are five because one baby - a two year old toddler - suffered so much abuse according to officials, she died.

Did I mention she was TWO?

That's why Janet and Ramon are now on the US Marshals' Fifteen Most Wanted list.

The kids they are accused of beating were taken away back in Mississippi but Chief Inspector Thomas Hession with the Marshals' office told me today they fear this couple may have had or adopted more children since they went on the run back in 2009.

Recently they've been spotted in Maywood and possibly Bell. And here's where the physical part comes in. According to law enforcement, they stick out a bit since he's shorter than she is and at 300 pounds, she weighs about twice as much as he does. She's also been known to wear very distinctive wigs.

There's a special place you-know-where for people who hurt children (senior citizens and animals too) so let's help find this couple, shall we?

Text, tweet, retweet, talk but let's get them their day in court and if found guilty of killing that poor child, let's get some justice for her too.

An NYPD plan intended to better connect with the community seems to have backfired. The police department asked its Twitter followers to share pictures of themselves with New York City police officers using the hashtag "myNYPD." Some did share nice pictures, but others decided to not "play nice, " sharing beating photos and more.

Officials say a 16-year-old boy is "lucky to be alive" and unharmed after flying from California to Hawaii stowed away in a plane's wheel well, surviving cold temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen. "Doesn't even remember the flight," FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press on Sunday night. "It's amazing he survived that."
