Mom Explains Silence As Sarah Recovers After Lung Transplant

Posted: Updated:

Just two days ago, 10-year-old Sarah Murnaghan was given a pair of adult lungs to replace the lungs she was born with.  Her lungs had been ravaged by cystic fibrosis.

This surgery was all made possible thanks to a judge's order which allowed Sarah to be placed on the adult lung donor waiting list.

It's now a critical time for little Sarah, who was weak leading up to the very complicated surgery she endured.

Her doctors are keeping a close eye on her, looking for any possible signs her body might reject her new lungs.

On Facebook this morning, Sarah's mother explained the weight on the family right now:

"I am sorry for my silence. As you all know Sarah was very, very sick going into transplant, therefore the road out is hard and long.  We are focusing all of our attention on Sarah and as a result are silent. If there are any big positive updates I will give them for sure."
