Gaithersburg man thankful to be alive after tree falls onto his car

SILVER SPRING, Md. -

A Gaithersburg man is lucky to be alive after his car got crushed by a tree.

Chris Greenwood pulled into the Cloverly Village Shopping Center at the height of the storm. He ran inside the Greek Islands Grill to use the bathroom and while he was gone, a tree fell on his car.

"Three minutes later and I would not be here," Greenwood says.

Another tree came down at the same shopping center. So did a light pole.

No one was hurt, but it will be a big inconvenience for Greenwood and his fiancée Brenda Henderson. The 2001 Oldsmobile is their only car.

"I'm just glad Chris is alive," says Henderson. "That's a lot to be thankful for."
