CLARKSTON, Ga. -

Reports of a man found dead near Georgia Perimeter College's Clarkston campus shocked local residents enough. Then, official word he'd been strangled to death.

Now, a man and woman are being held in connection with the brutal death of 23-year-old Alpha Oumar Diallo. The Stone Mountain resident was found strangled and beaten about 30 feet from the sidewalk along North Indian Creek Road. A passerby discovered his body about 7 p.m. Monday.

Early Thursday morning, SWAT and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 24-year-old Christopher Shepard and 44-yaer-old Constance Mason. Shepard is charged with murder and police charged Mason with making false statements. Authorities say the two suspects live together in Clarkston.

The GBI confirmed Diallo was not enrolled at Georgia Perimeter College.  He is a citizen of French Guinea in West Africa and has been a resident in the U.S. since 2008.

Ten time Ironman, Dave Nazaroff recently rode 900 miles on his bicycle...from Nyack, New York...to Georgia. He didn't do it to get in shape, or to win a competition; he did it to raise money for a 11 year old Callie Truelove in Gainesville, Georgia.
