HazMat Crews Cleaning Up Detergent Leak On Route 309 In Montco

MONTGOMERY TWP., Pa. -

An industrial detergent leak overnight on Route 309 in Montgomery Township, Montgomery County, is still causing traffic problems this morning.

Hazmat crews remained on the scene Thursday morning between Richardson Road and North Broad street just after midnight and shut down the roadway in both directions.

Officials say a tractor-trailer was leaking the liquid. An officer noticed it and stopped the driver.

A cleanup is underway. One lane in each direction was reported to be getting by the scene by 7 a.m.

Two firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion. There are no other reported injuries.
