Gladwyne Elementary Locked Down Earlier Today

Posted: Updated:
GLADWYNE, Pa. -
Gladwyne Elementary School went into lockdown mode at approximately 1:30 PM, Wednesday afternoon.

It was a scary afternoon for parents and children at Gladwyne Elementary School.

It was about 1:30 when the school got a call from Lower Merion Police about a person of interest who had an arrest warrant--who was located within a mile of the school. The school was immediately placed on lockdown.

Parents hurried to the school after hearing the news. Students and teachers were locked in their rooms. Some kids telling us they had to use the bathrooms inside their classroom.

32 minutes later, the lockdown was lifted. Police never found the man.

Parents tell us it wasn't the normal Wednesday afternoon.

According to Jennifer Huth, a parent, "It was alarming but I felt like everything was under control but when I got here I saw a police officer who is a close personal friend and then i felt better"

According to Alex Huth, a second grader in the school "We just drew pictures ins tread."

Lower Merion Police have not told FOX 29 who they were looking for other than they were tracking a cell phone picture of that individual.

They do say that person never entered the school.
