The roof of a home near 73rd Avenue and Missouri caved in after it was engulfed in flames on Wednesday morning.
Glendale Fire spokesperson Michael Young says the fire appears to have started in the kitchen before it spread to the attic.
A gaping hole in the top of the home could be seen while SkyFOX flew overhead.
According to Glendale fire investigators, the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction inside the stove range hood.
A firefighter was transported to a hospital as a precaution due to heat related issues. He was released later in the morning.
The home was being used as a community placement home for Southwest Behavior Center; four people were displaced because of the fire.
