Mayor Gray stays silent on Michael Brown

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Former D.C. Councilmember Michael Brown is the latest in a list of city leaders convicted of felonies. Brown got caught in an FBI sting taking cash bribes in exchange for city favors. And the U.S. Attorney is still investigating Mayor Vincent Gray.

But Gray is not commenting on the investigation into his campaign. And now it appears he wants to stay clear of the Michael Brown situation as well. One reason may have to do with a woman who has been linked to Gray's campaign, and now, Michael Brown.

Mayor Gray has said in the past he hasn't been involved in any wrongdoing.

It has been almost a year since three council members called on Mayor Gray to resign after the discovery of a shadow campaign.

On Tuesday, Councilmembers David Catania and Muriel Bowser still think the mayor should step down. We could not reach Councilmember Mary Cheh for comment.
