PHOENIX -

Phoenix firefighters rescued a man in his 50s from a trail on South Mountain on Saturday morning.

According to Capt. Jonathan Jacobs, the man became fatigued and wasn't able to make it down Mormon trail around 11:30 a.m.

Fire crews found the man about two miles up the trail and began treating him on the mountain for heat related illness.

Firefighters hoisted the man into Firebird 10 and flew him to a treatment area.

Jacobs says the man refused to be taken to the emergency room.
