*The Weather
Nice late summer beach weather is expected to continue this holiday weekend and NO rain is in the forecast. An onshore flow and marine layer will produce some fog and low clouds during the morning hours but afternoons should be mostly sunny and mild with a pleasant sea breeze.

High Temperatures on the sand: Saturday 73  Sunday 72  Labor Day 72

Winds will be mostly calm in the mornings and then turn onshore (WSW onshore 8-15 mph) by noon.

*The Surf:
The swell from Hurricane Marie will continue to drop off on Saturday but will still be in the 3-5'+ range. All high surf advisories will be cancelled. The largest sets will continue to be on south facing beaches. For Sunday and Monday, a combination of dropping swell from Marie, a new Southern Hemisphere swell and some wind swell will produce very nice surf for Sunday and Monday. Wave heights will mostly be in the 2-4' range with some larger sets.

*Always swim and surf near a lifeguard!

Here are the latest water temperature reports: Zuma 63, Hermosa 72, Cabrillo 66, Huntington 67, San Clemente 68

For the latest surf report and rip current outlook from the National Weather Service, click here. If you are in need of tidal information, it can be found here

*The Rip Current:

Break the grip of the RIP! Our beaches are prone to rip tides. If you get caught in one, do NOT panic! Swim PARALLEL to the coast OUT of the current. Try and get attention from lifeguards if you need help. Most importantly, ALWAYS swim near a manned life guard lower. He or she will alert you to rip currents and tell you where it is safe to swim. Check out the images to the left  and the video for more rip current safety.

*The Water Quality:

Heal the Bay released their annual BUMMER SUMMER Beach Report Card before the Memorial Day Weekend and the news is mostly good! The complete Heal the Bay Beach Report Card can be found here.

Have a SAFE weekend everyone and don't forget to check my forecasts for the latest conditions at the coast every Monday through Friday morning starting at 4:30am on FOX 11 or right here on myfoxla.com
