PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) -

Delorean Paul says after his cousin was dropped off at a bus stop at West Wilson and Motor Street in Pontiac on Wednesday, he was approached by a man armed with a gun, who tried to kidnap the little boy as he walked to his home less than a block away.

"I guess he approached him... grabbed him, put his hands on him, and my cousin shook loose, and he got away from him, and he ran home and screamed for help," Paul explained.

We're told the boy's father ran out to look for the man, but he was gone.

The child told detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department the man flashed his gun, grabbed his arm and told him to come along, but the boy thought fast and was able to slip away from the man's grip and get away.

The suspect is described as a thin black man around 20 years old wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt and blue jeans.

"He's fine. He was a little shook up," Paul said.

The child said he did not recognize the suspect, but detectives say after talking to neighbors, two of them said they did see a man matching that description about two hours before this allegedly happened.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.
