Horse dies as tornado hits Myakka City farm

MYAKKA CITY (FOX 13) -

The path Tuesday's tornado took straight through Myakka City is clear: Just look for the damage.

Its target was Moby Jones' place. First, his workshop -- walls knocked over, trusses ripped down. The storm then headed for his horse barn, trapping two of his horses in their stalls.

Jones says a storage shed fell on to the horses, killing one instantly. As soon as they got first light. They buried that horse, named Lover, on the property.

"It's just one of them things, nature, hate to see it happen, but, you know," offered Jones.

The other horse, Sugar, was spooked and sore from the shed falling on her, but otherwise OK.

It was just before 3 a.m. As they slept, they heard the rumbling. But just as soon as it started, it ended.

"In like 15 seconds, it was over with, it was done. You think it'll last a lot longer, all the damage it done. But it don't take long," Jones continued.

Moby Jones has lived here for 22 years. He says Hurricane Charley didn't even do this much damage.

He thought Tropical Storm Andrea was just going to bring some much-needed rain. Now, he has a word of advice.

"Got to watch them all now. Watch them all."
