Seven carjackings in Staten Island and Brooklyn last month could be part of a crime pattern, according to the NYPD.
All the cars targeted were late model luxury vehicles like Mercedes, BMWs and Range Rovers.
In each incident, the thieves jumped into a running car and drove off. All the vehicles were stolen after 11 p.m.
The most recent carjacking was on May 31 on Staten Island.
As many as four men were involved in each carjacking. Three occurred at a gas station and one at a car wash.
In two incidents, the thieves jumped into the car after the driver got out following a fender bender.
One car was stolen at knifepoint, according to the NYPD.
