Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Wants You To Be The Hero

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is now Dwayne "the host of a brand-new competition series on TNT" Johnson. It's is called "The Hero" and nine contestants are challenged to perform some amazing stunts and deeds, with the audience voting on the series' eventual winner, who could claim as much as $1 million. 

Johnson speaks with Tony Potts (filling in for Steve Edwards) and Maria Sansone on Good Day LA.

Fun facts about Dwayne:

  • Johnson was a college football player. In 1991, he was on the University of Miami's national championship team.
  • This led him to become a professional wrestler like his grandfather, Peter Maivia, and his father, Rocky Johnson.
  • He gained mainstream fame as a wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1996 to 2004, and was the first third-generation wrestler in the company's history.
  • Johnson's motion picture debut was a brief appearance as The Scorpion King in the opening sequence of The Mummy Returns.
