'American Idol' tour stop in Detroit canceled

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Disappointing news for "American Idol" fans.

Officials canceled this year's "American Idol Live" concert tour originally scheduled for July 5 at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit is one of 10 markets dropped from the tour's itinerary. A tour spokesperson says the change is due to "production scheduling changes," but some believe it's due to slow ticket sales.

Fans who purchased tickets can get a refund at the original sale spot, minus the fees.

"American Idol" auditions will take place in Detroit on July 21 at Ford Field.
