Housing in DC converted for homeless veterans

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, DC -

Veterans without a place to live are the focus of the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans conference in Washington D.C. this week. The Federal Government estimates more than 62,619 veterans are on the streets.  They hope to make a dent in this problem by converting old housing in southeast into 85 beds which will be dedicated exclusively to temporary housing for home veterans.

Even after the housing market collapse put veterans at risk of losing the homes they already owned, the head of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans sees improvement.
