Maryland State Police say troopers issued thousands of citations and made more than 200 arrests over the Memorial Day weekend.

Police officials announced Tuesday that troopers stopped more than 9,700 vehicles over four days and issued about 6,828 traffic citations and 5,164 warnings. Troopers also arrested 102 motorists for impaired driving, 51 people for drug offenses and 73 others for a variety of other criminal violations.

Police warn that troopers will continue to participate in other initiatives throughout the summer travel season.
