Elderly man with Alzheimer's missing from NW Side found safe

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 92-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer's who went missing from his Northwest Side home and been found safe, police said.

Benjamin Gonzalez was located about 11 p.m. Saturday near West Kimball and North Lawrence avenues, police said.

He was last seen about 2 p.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of West Foster Avenue, wearing a grey fedora, tan jacket, beige pants and black shoes.

Gonzalez was described as Hispanic, standing 5-foot-4, weighing 150 pounds, with green eyes and white hair. He was not carrying his wallet and does not have any money or identification. Police also said he enjoys walking long distances.

Chicago police issued a high-risk missing person alert on Saturday, asking anyone with information to call Area North Special Victims detectives at (312) 744-8266.
