Posted: Updated:

An Indiana man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car in downtown Washington.

D.C. police say the collision occurred late Friday night at the intersection of 23rd Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.

Police say 66-year-old George Hillis of North Lake Village, Ind., was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police are still investigating the collision, which occurred as Hillis turned his Harley-Davidson bike westbound onto Constitution Avenue.

Bikers from across the country are in town this weekend for the annual Rolling Thunder events.

Rolling Thunder held a vigil just two hours before the crash at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
