Inspirational Bucks County Girl Wins The Hearts of Many

SELLERSVILLE, Pa. -

To the everyday on-looker, Lacey Barchart is just your average young girl.
She likes playing with her stuffed animals and her friends.

But, she sees the world just a bit differently than one might guess. Lacey has no central vision whatsoever, and she has to rely on peripheral vision to see. To make things more challenging, her glasses don't help very much.

Lacey has Stargart's Disease, which is a hereditary eye condition that affects one out of every 10,000 people. She was diagnosed after her first grade teacher pointed out problems with her vision.

Although she is not completely blind, Lacey is learning to master Braille, at home and during four weekdays at school.

Kayla, the older sister of one of Lacey's friends, was moved to help when she learned of Lacey's condition. She decided to organize a middle school dance, and ended up raising $1400 dollars for research.

Right now there is no cure for Stargart's Disease, so Lacey's family is fundraising to work toward getting one. They participate in Vision Walks for the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

There is a community effort going on, and people wear "Eye Love Lacey" t-shirts at the Vision Walks.

It is clear that people have their "eye" on Lacey.
