Stunning robbery in Georgetown: Suspect assaults victim with Taser

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

It was an alarming robbery in an unlikely place.

D.C. police say on Tuesday night at around 10 p.m. in the 1500 block of 34th Street in Northwest D.C., a suspect approached a victim from behind and assaulted that person with a Taser. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect made off with a cell phone, wallet and some change.

Residents of that block say they were shocked to learn of such a robbery. Though one man said we should probably anticipate criminals will start to use more technologically advanced means of committing crimes.

Police say the suspect who got away is a black male, about 5'10” tall, 140 to 160 pounds and was wearing a black jacket, black jeans, a black bandana and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call D.C. Police at 202-727-9099.
