Lizz Winstead, the co-creator of ‘The Daily Show,’ angered many of her Twitter followers after making a political joke about the deadly Oklahoma tornado.

According to the Daily Mail Online, Winstead sent a Tweet that read, ‘This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives.’

She sent this message out around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Winstead may have been trying to make a joke regarding the current IRS scandal currently plaguing Washington and President Obama.

This post was soon deleted, but many took to Twitter to comment.

User @LifeofFitz wrote, ‘Apparently, @lizzwinstead thinks natural disasters are fodder for humor.’

User @Brava10 commented, ‘Can't see the humor in any level of a tornado.’

After the devastation of the disaster became clean, Winstead commented, ‘Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry. #LetMeHaveIt.’

Winstead continued to post comments and apologize.

She also Tweeted information regarding making donations to the Red Cross.

It was commuter confusion out on Interstate 66 Monday morning. Drivers heading eastbound towards Washington D.C. wound up seeing their traffic lanes suddenly turn into a mess. Lane stripes somehow pulled away from the road surface and created a mess of tangled tape and lanes that didn't make sense.
