Family Pleads For Missing College Student's Return

Posted: Updated:
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -

There was a plea Monday from the family of a missing college student from Montgomery County.

Matt Royer, 21, has been missing since he left University of Rhode Island around 6:30 p.m. Thursday for his Collegeville home. His family and police are searching for him.

He was seen in a 2008 Chevy Cobalt getting gas an hour from home early Friday morning.

Police confirmed another sighting at 1 p.m. on Friday in Myerstown, about an hour and a half in the opposite direction of his Collegeville home.

Management at a hotel and diner near the intersection where Matt's car was spotted say they have no record of him as a customer.

On Monday, Matt's mother pleaded with her son to contact home.

"Matthew, if you can hear this, no matter what the circumstances are, your friends and your family, we all love you," Janet Royer said.

"Please contact us. Call home. We will come anywhere, any place, anytime for you. We are here for you, we love you and miss you. Thank you," she said.

FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito reported live from Collegeville on Monday night with more details.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
