A hit list against African American students at Agoura high? Well, yes an no...

Here is what investigators are working on...

Racist graffiti was first found during the weekend  on the school's walls. Then, kids going in the bathroom on Wednesday morning saw "the first to die" followed by the names of 5 students, all black. Hate crime investigators spoke to all the students and their families, who wondered why they hadn't been notified during the weekend.

Well, it seems deputies have been working on the theory that an actual student has been scrawling the hateful words, to make the school look bad. Seems he or she wants to transfer out, and wanted to create a "reason to say there was a hostile environment at the school".

"It's embarrassing,"says school principal Larry Misel, who has been at Agoura for fifteen or so years and never seen anything like it.

Flabbergasted students, first horrified at the possibility of such racism, don't know how to react to the possibility that it was a hoax to get out of one of the most coveted high schools in the state.

Waiting for more confirmation from investigators, for details on why the student may have thought this was the thing to do. But they are pretty sure no one at the school, of any race, is being targeted.

(FOX 11) Authorities today were investigating two hate-crime incidents of racist graffiti targeting black students at Agoura High School.

The first incident was reported on Sunday, then graffiti was found on various buildings on the campus at 28545 W. Driver Ave., said sheriff's Lt. Patrick Mathers of the Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

Deputies took a report that day of "anti-race hate graffiti,'' he said.

On Wednesday, deputies were notified that similar graffiti was found in a boys' restroom on the campus, and that incident also was classified as a hate crime, Mathers said.

"The sheriff's department does not believe there is any immediate threat to students at the campus,'' Mathers said. The incidents were being investigated by a hate crime task force, Mathers said. He declined to elaborate on specifics of the case.

Wednesday's incident reportedly included names of students.

"My son's name showed up on the list,'' Astrid Kastenberg said in remarks reported by the news media.

Parent Dorna Hill said she was uneasy, even though officials said they didn't believe students were in danger, media outlets reported.

School officials said a $1,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.
