Helmet cam video shows scaffolding on Washington Monument; repair of earthquake damage to begin

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

For weeks, we've been showing you the progress of the scaffolding going up on the Washington Monument.

Now it's all done.

But can you imagine what it's like to put that together - all the way up at 555 feet?

Take a look at this construction helmet cam video released by the National Park Service.

It shows that this job is not for the faint of heart.

Workers with Universal Builders Supply finished at the top this week.

Repair work on the monument that was damaged in the 2011 earthquake should begin shortly and will take at least a year.
