'John Doe' child porn and sexual abuse suspect arrested

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Update from ICE: The nationwide manhunt for a "John Doe" suspected child pornographer ended a little more than 24 hours after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) issued a public appeal for information about his identity and whereabouts. John Doe was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a tip from the public was called in to the ICE tip line. Additional details about the arrest and the identity of John Doe are being withheld pending his initial appearance in federal court.

The Feds are asking for your help to rescue a young girl seen being sexually abused on four videos believed made somewhere in the United States.

Special agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement are releasing photos of an unidentified suspect seen on the videos with a girl about 7 to 9 years old.

"It looks like our suspect is either a musician or collects musical instruments," says agent Brian Korzak, referring to images of guitars and mixers in the room where the videos were made.

"We need your help in solving this crime," says agent Patrick Redling. "We believe that there's a child in danger. And so we're looking to your help to get the word out about this particular investigation so hopefully we can catch this child sexual predator, take him off the streets and save this child from more harm."

The videos were discovered on the internet by Danish National Police earlier this month. They then alerted U.S. officials.

"We're not sure what the relationship (between the man and girl) is because unfortunately there is no audio," says Korzak. "So we couldn't tell any interaction between the two."

But it's clear the man knows the girl.

"Having access to the child, so to speak, on April 14, and then having access again on April 27, obviously there's some sort of ongoing relationship or personal knowledge between the suspect and the victim," Korzak says.

The Fairfax-based team of ICE agents has made more than 80 arrests since its Victim Identification Program was launched in December 2011.

ICE agents nationally have nabbed 964 suspects so far this fiscal year - identifying and rescuing 337 victims.

Anyone with information about this person are asked to contact ICE in one of two ways:

- Call the ICE Tip Line, which is staffed 24-hours a day: 1-866-347-2423 from the U.S. & Canada 1-802-872-6199 from anywhere in the world.

- Complete an online tip form at www.ICE.gov/tips. All tips will remain anonymous. Individuals should not attempt to apprehend the suspect personally.
