DC seeks to attract more major film, TV productions

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

A major Hollywood movie is being shot in the District this week. If you were near the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, you couldn't miss the crowds gathered to watch the filming of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” the sequel to the 2011 blockbuster.

But did you know many movies and television series, which appear to be filmed in D.C., are actually shot in neighboring Maryland and Virginia? Tax incentives and federal government red tape are often factors.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray says a study is currently be conducted by a private firm to determine how to better attract movie and television studios to the District.
