PCSO announces arrest of dangerous drug dealer

Authorities say they have arrested a dangerous drug dealer, thanks to the work of Pinal County deputies and the DPS Gang and Immigration Enforcement Task Force.

25-year-old James Gass was on surveillance when he was stopped by a deputy on suspicion of DUI. Gass was arrested and a warrant was executed on his San Tan Valley home.

Authorities found 4 pounds of hydroponic marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, $7,000 in cash, 6 firearms, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

This isn't the first time Gass has been in trouble with the law. He was released from prison in 2010 after serving more than 2 years on an aggravated assault charge stemming from a shooting. Due to this conviction, he was prohibited from possessing firearms.

During the investigation, GIITEM detectives found Gass was moving marijuana from California and selling it throughout San Tan Valley, PCSO says.

Gass' girlfriend, 23-year-old Cassandra Rodriguez, was also arrested. Their child, an 18-month-old girl, was placed in CPS custody because a loaded AR-15 was found in the reach of the child.

Gass is facing numerous drug and weapons-related charges.
