CBP seizes $356K of cocaine at Port of Mariposa

NOGALES, Ariz. -

A 38-year-old Mexican national was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 39 pounds of cocaine in the US.

Jose Fermin Arrellano-Guzman of Nogales, Mexico, was referred for an additional inspection of his SUV when he was trying to enter the US through the Port of Mariposa.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection detection canines alerted officers to 15 packages of cocaine hidden inside the SUV's center console.

CBP officers say the drugs were worth $356,000.

Arrellano-Guzman was sent to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
