OJ Simpson headed back to court

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- O.J. Simpson is heading back to the Las Vegas courthouse where he was convicted of leading an armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers to ask a judge for a new trial.

The 65-year-old former football hero is due in Clark County District Court next Monday. He's slated to testify Wednesday.

Simpson alleges his lawyer, Yale Galanter, knew ahead of time and OK'd plans to retrieve what Simpson thought were personal belongings stolen after his Los Angeles trial in his ex-wife's 1994 slaying.

Simpson now says Galanter should have stepped away from the Las Vegas case and testified as a witness. Instead, Galanter handled Simpson's defense through his 2008 jury trial, conviction and failed Nevada Supreme Court appeal.

Simpson is serving 9-to-33 years in prison.
