Search for sexual assault suspects in DC

WASHINGTON, DC -

DC police are hoping somebody will recognize the young man seen on a bank surveillance video trying to use a robbery victim's ATM card early Monday morning.

The man is believed to be one of two suspects in an early morning robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault in Columbia Heights.

The crime happened just before 1am Monday in the 1500 block of Meridian Place NW.

Police say a couple sitting in a car was approached by two men armed with handguns and wearing ski masks. The couple was roughed up and robbed, the woman then forced into a nearby alley - around 14th and Oak Streets NW - where she was sexually assaulted.

"It's absolutely a serious case, heinous case," says MPD Cmdr. George Kucik.  "And we really need to get these people off the streets."

Anyone with information that can assist in the identification of the suspect pictured above is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the aforementioned offenses.
