'Landfill Harmonic' inspires DC business owner to help Paraguayan performers

WASHINGTON -

They call themselves Landfill Harmonic. Their video on YouTube has nearly one million hits.

Washington, D.C. business owner, Myrna Sislen, heard about the Landfill Harmonic from her friend Berta Rojas, an internationally recognized guitarist, who has played with them.

Sislen, who owns Middle C Music in Tenleytown, was so inspired that she reached out to a musical instrument distributor called "The Music Link" and has sent 35 new instruments to Paraguay to help the kids.

Sislen also makes the trip to Paraguay this week. She will have a chance to hear the kids play.

"There is no doubt in my mind that playing on what they're playing on has been life changing for every single one of these children and I'm hoping this will just take that to another level," says Sislen.
