Food trucks protest proposed regulations at Farragut Square

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Many food truck owners in D.C. say they worry new proposed regulations could put them out of business.

A D.C. Council committee is expected to discuss possible food truck regulations this Friday.

Food truck drivers gathered to protest the regulations at Farragut Square on Monday. Instead of opening up for business during the busy lunch hour, drivers kept their windows closed to send a message of how the regulations will hurt their industry.

Those who are supporting the regulation say that trucks often cause parking, traffic and sidewalk congestion.

All issues will be discussed during a council committee public hearing Friday.
