Anna Lucia Garibay was reported missing at 8 p.m. Sunday night -- police say the 5-year-old was playing with friends outside of her condominium near Scottsdale Road and Continental.
When her mother went to check on her, the child was gone.
Police were called and when officers arrived at the scene, they went door to door at the complex asking questions, searching for the child.
We received word early Monday morning that the police found the girl and she is safe.
Scottsdale Police Officer David Pubins says "Early this morning investigation led detectives to a house in Phoenix where a male suspect had brought Anna Lucia without permission. Anna Lucia was recovered without any signs of injury, however at this time investigation and interviews are ongoing."
Pubins adds that the man is a resident of the condominium complex and is known to Anna and her family.
Where Anna was for several hours is unknown, but we're still working to get more details.
Pubins says, "At this time the suspect's name is not available as the interviews with him are also continuing. Kidnapping and any possible additional charges are pending."
At this point, it's good news out of Scottsdale that the little girl was found.
