RIVERSIDE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The "Bully Bandit" has struck again, committing at least his 13th bank robbery, this time in west suburban Riverside, according to the FBI.

At 12:36 p.m. Thursday, Riverside police received multiple 911 calls for an armed robbery at the Bank of America branch in the 3300 block of South Harlem Avenue. A suspect had entered the bank wearing a mask that covered half his face, a statement from police said.

He displayed a black handgun and demanded money from a teller, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

He was described as a Hispanic man 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with a medium build,

wearing a dark or gray hooded sweatshirt.

The Bank of America branch was locked down and a police K-9 was requested to track the robber. The FBI was also investigating.

"Investigators are now checking all business in the area for outside video cameras to determine if the suspect was caught on video footage outside of the bank," Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said in a statement.

The robber is dubbed "The Bully Bandit" because of the aggressive manner in which he carries out his crimes, which now total 13, at least seven this year. He has pushed customers out of the way to get to tellers, and spoken in a rude manner.

He is also suspected of the following bank robberies:

— Nov. 30 and Dec. 6, 2012, Chase Bank branch in the 4400 block of West North;

— Nov. 28, 2012, North Community Bank branch in the 1600 block of West Chicago;

— Dec. 11 and 27, 2012, PNC Bank branch in the 6600 block of West Ogden in Berwyn;

— Jan. 18, Plaza Bank branch in the 5600 block of West Belmont;

— Jan. 29, Chase Bank branch in the 5600 block of West Belmont;

— Feb. 11, Chase Bank branch in the 6500 block of West Cermak;

— Feb. 15, Chase Bank branch in the 3300 block of West Belmont;

— March 29, Plaza Bank branch in the 5600 block of West Belmont;

-- April 13, Chase Bank branch in the 2600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.

The bandit is also suspected of robbing a customer at the teller counter of the Chase branch in the 4800 block of West Irving Park Road on Feb. 12, the FBI said.

Anyone with information should contact Riverside police at (708) 447-2127.

There have been at least 50 bank robberies in the Chicago area this year, according to the FBI.
