Some local dog lovers have found a way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo while helping pets.
It’s the second annual running of the Chihuahuas.

At Kastles Stadium, 800 Water St. SW on the Southwest Waterfront in DC.

Parking is available on street, in our designated parking lot and in the garage under the stadium.
Check in for dogs starts at 11 am, first race at noon. You can sign up for all-breed contests on-site, so bring your four legged friends!
Please note, the races are filling up fast! Total entries will be capped at 96 dogs.
The races are open to Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes only. (Dogs over 15 pounds may race separately depending on number of entries.) Each dog will receive an official race packet full of goodies and coupons for great deals at DC's best dog friendly retailers. Each dog will run in one qualifying heat and the winners of the individual heats will advance to the championship round.
The grand champion will take home a trophy and $150 cash! Second place is $100, Third place is $50.
Food and beverages available for purchase on-site and water will be provided for the dogs.
Everyone – even the dogs - is welcome to join us at Cantina Marina afterwards for the official post-race party!
Walk ups will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and only if there are open slots in races.
There will also be all breed, free to enter contests for best dressed and best trick. You can register your dog on the day of the event.
