Michigan Head Start programs hit by sequester cuts

Posted: Updated:

The sequester's impact is being felt on some of the state's youngest residents.

Head Start officials say they've been told to cut their budgets. It's a pre-kindergarten program for low income families.

Fox 2's Roop Raj reports on the impact to local Michigan schools and families.

The question is who will be the voice for Head Start?

Those who are fortunate enough to travel by airplane were successfully able to lobby Congress and get automated sequester cuts to the FAA removed.  The movement was simply spurred on by longer lines at the airport.

The same kind of automated cuts will now affect kids who need help getting started with school.  Who will speak for them?
