Mother Of 5-Year-Old Hit & Run Victim Wants Justice & Healing For Her Daughter

Posted: Updated:
Wilmington, DE -

Janeane Davis spends her days and nights by her daughter's at
Dupont Children's Hospital.

The five year old girl suffered severe head and hip injuries
at the hands of a hit and run driver in Bryn Mawr.

Now Janeane spends her days wishing she could turn back the hands of time for the sake of her daughter Zahirah.

"This is her in happier times," Janeane says looking at a picture of her daughter.

The normally playful five year old girl is  now bound to her  hospital

bed because of a hit and run driver. The sight... Just too painful for her mother.

"I  want my baby to be well. I want her to chase her sister.
I want her to go to the playground."

The hit and run happened around 1:30 Thursday afternoon.

Janeane was crossing  the street with her twin daughters in tow at Lancaster and Bryn Mawr.

"I  had Camille in my right hand and Zahirah in my left. "

The trio had just left a Bryn Mawr grocery store when Lower Merion police say a black Ford F-150 type truck plowed into the family. Zahirah was hit the hardest.

"She got hit so hard her shoes fell off. Shoes are here
and it threw her. She's a little kid."

Janeane and her other daughter Camille were treated for  minor injuries.

Little Zahirah suffered seizures from her head injury.

Doctors are also keeping her leg bandaged and elevated

because of her hip injuries. While Zahirah continues on her road to recovery at Dupont Children's Hospital--Janeane just hoping the driver is  brought to justice and her daughter will soon be reunited with her family.

Janeane  says Zahirah could come home as early as next week. She says doctors tell her Zahirah is expected to make a full recovery,  but won't be able to put direct pressure on her hip for eight weeks.

The  hit and run driver is still at large.

Call Lower Merion Police at (610) 649-1000 if you have any information.
