Woman arrested in accident that killed 12-year-old girl

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Authorities say they have arrested a woman in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl last year.

According to the Newton County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Charnelle Martin-Gaillard of Stockbridge was arrested on Monday, and faces charges of homicide and improper lane change in the death of Lynneah Browning.

Police say Gaillard was driving the vehicle that struck and killed Browning while she was walking along Highway 81 last October. They say Browning died at the scene.

According to police, Gaillard stopped at the scene and called 911.

It is not clear where Gaillard was arrested.
